hey there all.
so.... i kinda hate EHX pedals. they have so many neat, wonderful ideas that they work out well, throw into a (usually way too large) box then sell for (unless it's way old) what i'm willing to pay.
but, unless i just have had a truly AWFUL run of luck with the 10 or so i've had, then they use super crappy components. every one i've owned has done something weird (and not in the advertised weird way) and/or just flat out broke.
because of this, i've steered away from any EHX products on boards i use live. i really just don't trust them.
/end rant
the only one i have on my board right now is a Micro Pog. i like the multi note tracking better than any other pitch shifter i've used, but it's an effect that i rarely use.
it just started doing this thing where when it's turned on, everything's fine. but when i switch it off, about 75% of the time it drops the volume coming out of my board to half. if i click it on, sometimes the volume stays low until it's been clicked on and off 3 or 4 times.
i do have a work-around.... i have a bypass looper that has 8 loop spots and it's in it's own loop so it does stay on all the time, but it's only inserted in the signal path when i want it. seems to keep it functioning right now.
any ideas on what's wrong with it? does EHX just make crud now? granted, it wasn't super expensive, but i baby my pedals. i doubt i've done anything to physically damage it.
it goes as soon as i find something i like better for it's spot. and i do have something in mind.... so.... yah.
yerp. rambley. my bad. but anybody know what's wrong with it? same experiences with EHX stuff? never had a problem?
thanks oodles.

now tell me how much you want me again

wait. i think that's Need. "I Need You Like....". god i hate that song.
i HAVE had some disturbingly erotic dreams about that James Brown Devo Doll.
and, while the thought of James Brown helming a group as rokk fire beautiful as Devo, i think it's a little impractical in application. Super Controlling James vs the Inspirational Random Goofiness of Devo.
"Esplosion!" ....... the best way to say 'explosion' since 2002.

yeah.... i dunno if i want to send it back to them. it'd be about $20 after shipping and stuff and i think i'd rather put that towards something to fill it's spot.
i LIKE the pedal...... but i have no faith in EHX reliability.
maybe i'm just EHX's kryptonite.

lol... um... i uh.... have a Pitch Factor on my board. and it tracks well on one note, really loose an slidy on more than one at a time.
the Micro Pog IS a neat pedal... i just don't trust it. and i don't use it a lot. there's something i think i'm 'bouts to pick up that might take up it's spot and push it to the fun/noise board.
do you like yours for the up or the down? i usually use it with the neck pup turned down on my 6'ers for a more guitary lead tone.
yahp!

In the big picture, that's not too bad, but Ehx is one of the "biggies" as far as mass produced effects pedals go. There's always gonna be a few bad apples. Just have it repaired, and be done.

yeah.... if i LOVE'D it i'd go by your and Jimber's recommendation and get it fixed. or trusted that it would stay fixed. maybe 1 out of 10 EXH pedals i've owned didn't glitch in some way. and i totally get that they are a huge company that makes LOADS of gear, and some will slip through the cracks.
so, either i just got a bunch of other people's portion of defects, or they are built to lower quality, or... i dunno... they built in a ERB Player Sensor, and the C string on bass is making them REALLY unhappy. and vindictive. vengeful little buggers.
yerp. i guess mostly wondering if it's just me.
'cause they DO make some stuff that i kinda wanna dry-hump. but just sonically.
later!
