EHX Micro Synth Question

Sign in to disble this ad
Sorry, I feel stupid for asking this, but I'm about to buy an Electro-Harmonix Bass Micro Synth and have a quick question.

On the EHX website, it says a power supply is included, however Musician's Friend/ Guitar Center is really trying to get me to buy one seperate.

Just wondering if someone who has bought one new or knows someone who has could tell me whether or not it comes with one.

Thank you!

My older version came with one. It was useless to me being an American one...

Thanks, I would assume it would be the same for the new versions...

Anyone know for sure?

A power supply is included.
Like with almost every bigger EHX-pedal.

Why can't you daisy chain it?

The BMS requires an isolated power supply

So just any 9v power supply, but it has to be isolated?

And it must have at least the mA that it asks for (check the PDF or HTML manual on www.ehx.com for more info).

Basically, yep. Or you can also run it off of a 'brick' style power supply as long as the outlets are isolated from each other.

The old BMS that I have requires 24v DC where the new one only needs a 9v supply. Clearly EHX are using some kind of charge pump circuit to achieve the internal voltage that the BMS requires to operate. Looks like they cheaped out and didn't bother to engineer a decent circuit in the process... The end result is that you need to have it isolated.

Well, I have a 9v power supply (just the wall wart type) that's at 1100mA. That wouldn't work though, would it?

Yeah, that should be fine. The supplied one is only 200mA. I might even have an old 500mA one kicking around in the cupboard that I could donate to you in the 'Free stuff thread' over on Ozbass. I'm not using it anymore.

Save your 1100mA for chaining a few effects.

Well it'll be a couple months before I can afford the BMS (car rego, mechanic, VT Deluxe, birthday parties, flights around Australia for my band... ergh so many expenses!!), but when I saw this thread appear I thought it a good idea to find some info before seriously committing to a purchase.

Thanks for the offer on the power supply. When the time comes I'll see if it's still kicking around that cupboard of yours
