Thinking of trying the electro harmonix pedal bag, mostly for it's light weight,
Any owners (or former owners) who can give me their opinion?
Do the pedals stay still in their places after you walk with the bag or transport it?
How's the design onstage?
Does the bag get in the way of the pedals while onstage?
ny problems or disadvantages u could find? http://www.ehx.com/products/eh-pedal-bag/product-photo

It's got 3 parallel velcro strips, two close together that fits pedals pretty nicely, then a third above along the top. The only thing that can go on top like that would be a boss-sized pedal sideways, or a zvex-style pedal that's short and wide since the velcro is only two inches wide. You could lay down some extra velcro, which is what I eventually did, and that worked fairly well. Pedals will stay in place provided you've got them securely velcro'd in.
On stage, the design is so-so. The shoulder strap is awkward and there's no good way to put it- if you look at the picture, you can kinda see what i'm talking about. IMO the handle/straps should have been on the tall side of the bag to stay out of the way. The flaps on the side for running cables are convenient if you use them.
When I was using this, I only had 3 pedals and so it worked alright. It's moderately flimsy so I'm not sure how a loaded board would hold. There's also not a great way to supply power— I velcro'd in a power strip.
I'd suggest not getting this and building your own, or spend extra $$ on a pedaltrain. I got a PT recently but before had been using a board I built for myself. I don't wanna thread-jack you and start a convo about the various ways to build a board, so PM me if you'd like to know how I built mine.

Looks like it wouldn't hold up after a few gigs and rehearsals. Also, there's nothing to protect your pedal board while in transit. Rolling around in a trailer or a trunk of a car could easily result in damaged pedals. At least with the pedal train you get a decent case to protect your investment.

I'm ok adding more Velcro ,
I'd cover the entire bottom with it.
I'll put 4-5 pedals in it,
But a few are heavy :
Custom Tube OD
Pitch-black+ (tuner-A/B box)
DOD Meatbox
Small Compressor
Only some gigs:
EHX BMIcro Synth
Crybaby
I'd add Velcro anyway,
I use the top 4 or sometimes 2-3 for most gigs.
I like pedaltrain but even the weight if the board is a little much if I can avoid it.
Maybe a modified bag
I know a few companies make them,
Warwick and 2-3 other guitar companies
ive seen others besides Warwick and EHX, but yes, buying llight pedals and a PT /soft case might be the answer
And yes, you're right.
I know about the van, guys toss their gear ontop of yours etc

As others have stated--it'll do a fine job protecting your pedals in the back of a car, but I wouldn't trust it in a trailer. |

As long as you care about your gear and don't throw it in your car smashed in a corner and put your bass on top or whatever it protects just fine, the top padding is actually pretty thich. My only problem with them is the lid zipper. If you just use it for light duty and don't plan on zipping it all the way off and just fold it under the bottom that was the ticket for me, if I zipped the lid all the way off, it is somewhat of a pain to get it just so to zip back on quickly, this is a small problem I realize but it was my hang up with them, and I can't get used to not having a dedicated power supplied board thingy too. I like my power already on the board. with the EHX board bag set up with a couple pedals on it I found it hard to find places for a strip to stay on it and out of the way. I had better luck just powering it up once I had it where I was going to use it. I just stored the pedals on it with patch cables connected. the pocket on the front is small but worked for a few wal warts and power strip to just hook up power when your there.

That doesn't look too bad!
I've got a 12 volt wall wart for the tube OD
& a 9 volt one spot,
I usually just plug them both in,
but Im thinking of adding a small powr strip like u have there, so I have one thing to plug in,
weight is an issue for me,
Because of this, I tend to take 2-3 pedals, no board, to keep it light,
but I want to take more, AND keep it light.
The pedaltrain looks more pro, solid, neater and nice and steady,
I'm just wary of adding weight,
I know myself.. my case,cables, pedals & stands can't weigh a ton,
I struggle enough carrying my instruments..
Even the Mono gigbag was killing me,I switched back to my Ritterbag
( I use hard cases for van/bus tours)
I play in NYC mostly and walk/subway to gigs..keeping thing light is an art.
I like the looks of the PT, just think I may need a lighter alternative.

It's not perfect, but add a strip of Velcro and it is good for the price. I have piled lighter gear on top of it with no problem. It even holds up pretty well in the rain.

I'm gonna try it, this guy got 8 pedals in his, including a crybaby, power brick.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-me...pdp_images_all
I'm planning on 4-5 tops but I can put my hercules micro stand in there, other stuff, it's lighter than anything else, which basically seals the deal for me.
I didi notice Gator, Warwick, Musicians gear,& roadrunner all make a bag too.
