Lightbulb EHX Pedalboard PSU

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi. I'm building a pedal board but find it tricky locating a suitable power supply to run my pedals:

Electro-Harmonix Black Finger Compressor - 12V AC/1000mA
Electro-Harmonix Bass Microsynth - 24V DC-100mA
T-Rex Sweeper Chorus - 9V DC: 90mA
Electro-Harmonix Bass Blogger - 9.6 Volts DC 200mA
Boss TU-3 Tuner - 9V DC 85 mA

The only one I have found that seems to work is the Burkey Flatliner Pro: http://www.burkey.nl/flatliner%20engels.htm
This is very large and unfortunately very expensive, so i'm looking for a more compact and more importantly, less costly alternative.

Thanks.

I'm running into the same problem although I don't have any pedals that consume 1000 mA.

The H&K Replex wants 13.4 vac/690 mA and the H&K Tube Factor wants 13.4 vac/480 mA.

Then the Cornish LD-1 that provides the best SN ratio at 24 vdc, Barber SS at 18 vdc, TC Nova 12 vdc/300 mA, Goatkeeper 3 that wants no more than 9.6 vdc, and several other 9/12/18 vdc pedals.

Gonna keep an eye on this thread. Good luck with your search.

Doing a quick glance, the Voodoo Labs PP2+ should come close, with the exception of the 1000mA Black Finger. I don't know how the 9.6v will function off a 9v, but my blind ignorance says "it should be fine."

the bass blogger will require an isolated output and an adapter if i'm not mistaken

the draw of the black finger is going to leave you with very few options, and anything that DOES work will be pretty expensive. i had a black finger, and i liked it, but the draw ultimately got it kicked off my board.

The PP2+ will work, but you will need to use the wall wart with the courtesy outlet on the back of the PP2. You may need a wall wart extender to get it to fit right. The biggest downside I've found to this is the PS for the EHX tube pedals seems to introduce a lot of noise into the chain if placed too close to the signal path. This is what I've done, and this is what I've experienced.

Good Luck

Not sure what you meant about the blogger, but mine works on a Boss power adapter but cannot be daisy chained, which kinda sucks, i just buy batteries. Its the easiest way i find and less clutter

Thanks for all replies. Will definitely check out the PP2+. Unfortunately it carries the same premium price as the Burkey Flatliner Pro, but seems to be smaller in size (a good thing).
Also, the EHX Black Finger has a seemingly esoteric power connector with two different sized flat pins. Is this an EHX tube pedal oddity?

If you have more suggestions, keep them coming.

Cheers,
