EHX pedals are the bees knees.

I now have 3 great pedals from EHX. A Soul Preacher, a Big Muff NYC, and a Metal Muff. I just love what they do with their pedals. I popped open the Metal Muff I just got, and I noticed something awesome. They first of all print "metal rules" on the board, and second, they put all the component values next to the component. Its almost all surface mount stuff, but if you had to replace the stuff, 1/4 watt resistors would fit.

Now I really need a POG. Love that EHX stuff!

do the big muff pedals for guitar work just as well for bass or is there a separate big muff pedal for bass?

There is now an EHX Bass Muff, which has some users on this forum, and I'm certain would be a good bet for use with bass, but a lot of the Muff varients are also great, some of them even classic, on bass. I've owned a good deal of Muff varients over the years, and I think they were all cool with bass.

I've never played through the Bass big muff; I use the bog-standard common ol' Russian (black) Big Muff and it's excellent for my needs. I use it with a classic rock line up I gig with occasionally.

Through my MarkBass/Eden rig it sounds like a wall of stacks being punished mercilessly. Except it's at non- skullcrushing, earbleeding, pantsflapping volume. And each note is still clear and defined with good bottom.

I just ordered a Bass Big Muff. I've also got a Boss LS-2 on the way, do you know if the EHX stuff can be powered by the "daisy chain" cable from the LS-2?

You'll need an adapter. I use one of those barrel jack to battery clip ones.

An adapter? Meaning it doesn't fit? Are you talking about the 9 volt type of adapter?

http://www.visualsound.net/1spot.htm

On that page, there is a thing called the battery clip adapter near the bottom of the page. That's what I use since the Big Muff NYC adapters are non-standard, and the Russian ones don't come with an adapter plug.

The bass big muff takes a standard "boss/ibanez style" 9v adaptor, and is daisy chainable. Very different from the Russians...

their new stuff is great too. i owned a bunch of their stuff and have always been happy with it.

Yeah, I like EHX effects as well. Right now I have the Stereo Pulsar and the LPB-1 on my board, thinking about getting a Micro POG or possibly an Electric Mistress.

I am a bonafide ehx FREAK and I can't believe I waited so long to get a stereo polyphase. It sounds excellent on bass and the variety of sounds you can get is incomparable.

And not to double-hijack the thread, but is the old GIGANTIC black Bassballs easy to re-house in a smaller case?

How do you like the Bassballs?

I've been looking for an envelope filter, and after listening to all the various clips and vids, I really think I like the Bassballs the best!

I think it was this video that put me over the top!!!

I'm using the smaller Bassballs; just came in the mail the other day. I'm really digging it. I find the more subdued setting between 9:00 and 11:00 makes a nice usable sound, almost like a deeper phaser. Anything higher is good for leads. Not impressed with the distortion switch yet, I just use the distortion on the Metaphors.

Do you put the distortion before or after the bassballs?
