EHX pedals weird conductive faceplates - is this normal?

Anyone who's got some older-style EHX boxes, could you tell me if yours do this too?

My Big Muff and Bassballs are only supposed to power up when they've got a cable plugged into the input, but I've found that if I plug a jack into one of them, then touch their faceplates together, the other one lights up!

Is this something to worry about? They were doing it with my Q-Tron too.

If i'm not wrong most metal cases act as a ground, and this is most definitely the case with EHX. It shouldn't be a problem, it won't kill you, and it shouldn't affect the sound either.
