Would a POG be best in front of the chain or in the middle of the chain?

I place my octavers first, but you should experiment. It won't harm anything...

The POG/HOG series does an incredible job replicating your sound in all the freq ranges. If you lowpass your signal before the POG, all of the octaves up will reflect that. Distortion, phaser, all of it. That said, I usually prefer the HOG first in the chain as I seem to like effecting the HOG's sound instead of effecting the sound to the HOG. Reverb into a HOG is pretty fantastic, though.

I currently have mine second in my chain; between two dirt pedals because I like to have dirt with octaves and octaves with dirt, depending on the goal.
