I own both.
I have found more uses for the BMS, but that might just say something about my (lack of) musical taste.
My take: the POG is a great octaver, and has some gain built in and some chorus, however, I think it shines best when in line with other quality effects. It's high quality, but for the price, the micro POG or another octave pedal will be best if you're just looking to add a fun octave pedal.
The BMS has a lot more versatility in terms of creating tones. It does a lot more things, which if you're concerned about having a pedal get play time seems like a point in its favor. It doesn't track as well as the POG, and you really have to accomodate your touch to it, but it has a lot more varied, and interesting voices that it can produce.
My advice, listen to soundclips and try and figure out for yourself where you can hear either being used in your current situation. I did that with your Bass MuRf and couldn't hear anything but doing Joe Walsh cover tunes, so I passed on it.
