EHX SMMw/H Looping mod

So I remember reading something about this way back when I started using the looping function more and having issues with the limitations of having to hold down the switch while recording a new loop... But I was unable to find how it was done... Does anyone know? is it an easy project?

When you loop on the Electro Harmonix Stereo Memory Man w/ H you have to hold down the switch during the entire duration of the loop... I remember someone modding it so that it worked by hitting it once to start and once to stop... I found the thread but there was no details on actually how to carry out the mod

You sure it wasn't the mod for RC-2 you're thinking about?

I think you are thinking about Tayste, and AFAIK he never actually got the mod done. Can't remember why right now, but I asked him about it a few months ago.

I think you just need to replace the momentary footswitch with a latching one. Simples!

Yeah that sounds pretty easy/cheap which is perfect... will it effect other functions of the pedal?

If it's as simple as swapping out a switch, it wouldn't affect anything! In theory it should work!

So I did some googling and wasn't able to find exactly that... I went to Pedal Parts Plus and they had a few switches but they didn't specify if they were latching or non latching... also would a latching switch cause the tap tempo feature of the memory man to become troublesome?

It would certainly effect the tap tempo function. As in, you'd lose it.

Darn that one is a necessary feature... back to the drawing board I guess... Anyone else have ideas?

my guess would be that maybe there's a way to send the recording function to another footswitch then you can use the latch switch as suggested and the tap tempo would remain functional but I don't know if theres room to add a 3rd footswitch in the box...

I think it was Toasted who was doing the mods to this pedal, might be worth shooting him a PM.
