EHX Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai as a looper

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm currently gassing for (amongst other things) an Electro Harmonix Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai, but I'm not sure if I would be better off with a dedicated looper like the Digitech Jamman.

On the one hand, the SMMH is cheaper, smaller, and has loads of funky delay settings. Then again the Digitech has multiple loops and memory card storage, meaning I could store synth or drum loops on it.

One question I have is can I (with both pedals) build up a sound on sound overdubbed loop and leave it to play whilst tapping my foot on the tap tempo to keep it locked in with the drummer?

Since I'm not sure exactly what I want out of a looper, making a recommendation is pretty hard, but I'd be interested to hear some of your thoughts!

On the SMM/H can do this but it takes some practice.

I basically went through every loopers best and worst features and decided upon the SMM/H for the following reasons

30 Second Recording Time
Abilty to Stop and Start Loops
Ability to reverse loops
Abilty to pitch shift loops
Ability to tap tempo the loop with out adjusting pitch
Ability to have adjustable decay on loops
Stereo
Amazing Delays that work with the looper in any mode
True Bypass

Now what you do is go down that list pick out what is important to you, but if you need the following features then you don't want the SMM/H

Storable loops
More than 30 seconds delay time

But the SMM/H is the only looper that will do all those things other than a Maneco and for that price you could get both a Jamman and a SMM/H. The next looper up from the SMM/H is the 2880 in a pedal form nothing else has the flexibilty the SMM/H does.

Hopefully you'll be able to hear some sound clips of me using mine by next week.

Hope this helps

Thanks mate, for £115 from gear4music.com I don't think I can go wrong. There's one track I really want to use it for, I just timed the loop and it's bang on 30 seconds! Cutting it fine though...

The fact that it's stereo is a plus too. I can imagine plugging in both bass and guitar to the inputs, hooking up to 2 amps, and playing as a one man band!
