Thumbs up EHX Stereo Memory Man w/Hazarai now available for all

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been waiting for this one for a little while now. The first round that came through E-bay seemed to be US only sellers. There are now worldwide auctions available.

I just bought one from this bloke.

Can't wait for it to get here!!

So... what exactly is Hazarai again?

I mean, I just didn't retain that much yiddish from my great-grandmother.

Same size as the new Polyphase and the full-size Metal Muff.

Problem is, I don't know either of those!

It was discussed in this thread, but we never got a straight answer - just my eyeballed estimate: Pedal footprint size thread

BTW, a lot of the new EHX pedals include their newest pedal catalog. It doesn't include any pedals from the last four or five months, but it does have a little "size comparison diagram". Again, it's lacking in actual dimensions.

Hazarai means 'all the bells and whistles' or something along those lines. I believe the button locks in your settings when you find something you like.

I'll tell you how big it is in about a week

EDIT: Apparently Hazarai means 'crap' or 'junk'. So the Memory man has all the **** in other words

2nd EDIT: Ok.... By ****, i mean poo

KarateKid, you OWE us a review!

Where is it, eh?

I'm seriously considering either this or the Boss DD-6 as a replacement to my #1 Echo. I've found a few potential uses for the features both of those have, that the #1 Echo doesn't...

Mate....

I have been considering a review, but im still getting my head around the thing!

So far, all I can say is that im MORE than happy! It really does have the Hazarai! There are heaps and heaps of settings and the way the controls work is really nice. In different modes, different knobs have slightly varied uses, but its still fairly straight forward.

My previous delay was a DD3 with basic functions. My head is still spinning a bit with regard to the Memory Man.

I'll keep at it and get a proper review happening. Maybe i'll break it down into different modes. That might make things a bit easier.

Oh yeah...It looks good too!

Are there particular features you would like reviewed?

Here's my Q: when twiddling the knobs while the repeats are repeating, are there any time gaps, glitches, stepping, or other artifacts that are not smooth? The one thing I still love about analog delays is how smoothly they flow as the settings are tweaked. I know some digi units pull it off OK, but does this one?

Hmm... that's a good question for KarateKid!

I'll have to check that out on my #1 Echo, too. I know that adjusting the delay time will reveal some not-so-smooth transition points, but I never really explored it. As for Feedback, I'm not sure. Blend is perfectly smooth, though, so I'd imagine that'd be consistent on the new MM, at least.

being able to adjust knobs and make the crazy noises was one of the things i think a lot of people loved about the old unit. it'd be sad if that was no longer as possible.

Wha?

Crazy noises will still be very much possible - the question is simply about the smoothness of the transition as you turn the knob.

Believe me, the EHX #1 Echo is full of crazy noises, and I don't doubt for a second that the new Memory Man is capable of even crazier sounds!

Idiosyncracy

One of the things I've always loved about the EHX line (especially, my Polychorus) is the idiosyncratic weirdness that is possible from tweaking the parameters. It's those "in-between" settings that really stoke my creative fire. Can't wait to hear some reviews and soundclips.

Enjoy!
