EHX Super Ego on bass with W&C PPB and MASF Possessed

wooooooot. i kinda hate most everything EHX has put out. but i REALLY like the Super Ego. 's got some **** up in thar.

adding an effects loop and giving a lot of control over how the held stuff changes with the Gliss and the Speed knob giving you decay control, into infinitely held note/chords...... yeah. they took the Freeze, that was already pretty damn cool, and made it really awesome.

EHX definitely got the Super Ego right.

it's pretty damn good.

it's really reflective of what you put into it, so i've had loads of fun running drum machines into it and capturing part of a bass drum or snare hit or weird sample.

makes me sad i like an EHX pedal, but they did this'un right.

EHX has lots of amazing ideas that other pedal companies have never even scratched the surface of, they just tend to fail in execution often! This one definitely looks like a win, and a good reason to help me not regret selling my Freeze.

Yeah, plus EHX seems generally more fun. Where MXR pedals for example seem more like serious, professional tools, for the serious, professional musician, EHX has more of a playful vibe.

The cynic in me feels that's just a marketing strategy to attract a different target audience, but I still like it. And as you said, they really do have some whacky, experimental, "out-there" pedals.

I can understand not liking the offerings of a certain pedal company (for me, MXR = meh), but you seem personally offended by EHX. You're usually such a light-hearted kind of guy!

lol. they DO offend me. i'm bothered by the waste of potential in anything. and they could leverage their money and resources and put out some GOOD pedals instead all the ugly little half-done stuff they do.

but most of it's jokes.

and frustration with people buying Bass Big Muffs when that's about the worst fuzz i've ever seen.

...... EHX beat up my dog and took my lunch money when i was a kid. AND I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THEM FOR IT.

I totally agree with you on the BBM. But dude, get a new dog, and a ham sammich; EHX make some fine stuff. I can see the rough edges in the design, but that's a consequence of trying original stuff.
