EHX Voice Box with Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I sing a lot of the vocals with my band, and I'm intrigued by the EHX Voice Box. I've read a few things that say it will work better with the signal from a rythym guitar or keyboard than with a bass, to harmonically match the vocal to the instrument. Does anyone have experience running your bass and your vocals through it? I'd prefer to do it that way, rather than run the rythym guitar through it, if it actually works.

(BTW, as I type this, I'm leaving town and won't be near a computer for a few days. So if there's a discussion here and I'm not replying, I'm not ignoring it!)

I've looked at these too and from what I can tell, it will work with a bass, but will only work properly on the octave settings and if you are playing root notes. From just bass, it will have no idea if the song has major/minor chords and could sound real ugly in other settings.

I tried it, with a Heil. Man that thing almost felt like it was shaking my teeth....... If you have fillings, they might come loose. Sound-wise, It was really good sounding from A-G strings, not so good on the E.

Actually the Voice Box isn't a Talk Box like the Heil. It's actually a vocoder that uses whatever you plug into it as the carrier.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I could be completely wrong
