anybody try this yet? with the DEEP switch how well does it keep tone and note definition?
A versatile and brutal fuzz designed just for bass.
MXR took a classic 70 s fuzz circuit, re-tuned it for more low end, and added a DEEP switch that delivers up to +15dB of monstrous bass that is internally adjustable between 87Hz - 113Hz. And that s not all: Volume, Tone, and Fuzz controls let you sculpt your tone with precision to get everything you need from searing, sustained upper-register chords to punchy, growling low B s without sacrificing low end or clarity. The El Grande comes in a lightweight but durable aluminum casting with the same high-quality jacks and switches that have made MXR pedals a road-ready standard on pedal-boards around the world for over 30 years.

Follow the link in the first post and you'll find a video in the list (under Dunlop) for this pedal.
Personally, I've never gotten my hands on one, but just from the video, I know it's waaaayyy to over the top for my taste. I'm one of those that prefers just a little warm overdrive to a wild & crazy over-the-top buzzsaw fuzz sound.
Don't know if it helps, but maybe it'll help a little anyway.

It's officially out in June. But by late May, you might start to see a few out there, leaked early...

The El Grande is abrasive as heck, the deep switch takes you 20,000 leagues under, and to answer the OP's question from months back, tone retention and note definition aren't hurt by this function at all. The volume knob makes it easy to compensate for any jumps in your level and I'm no longer in a hurry to get a Bass Big Muff... |

| | The "G" is for Gustav | | Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Maryland | | I got one a few weeks ago from MF and sent it back a few days later. It was very "splatty" sounding. A lot of low end but overall just harsh sounding and not very useable IMO.
My favorite fuzz is still the BYOC Large Beaver. Also have the PE Depth Charge (broken ), the GK Diesel Dawg, and the Fulltone OCD, all of which I like better than the El Grande. I think they could have done a much better job with this pedal.
