Electrix Rack Mount pedal control

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I have recently bought an Electrix Filter Factory and I am looking into getting a Mo-FX, but the part that is really making me hold off is the lack of control I can have with these while playing.

I am looking for a way to control the filter and other parts with an expression pedal, and the ability to turn the effect from bypass to active and off again.

Supposedly, they were making a three button controller, but it never hit the market. Anyone have any ideas on what to do, and what voltage controlling expression pedal to use?

The Moog pedal, which I have says it will control it, but it does not... Any ideas?

Every feature, including the bypass, on the Filter Factory is MIDI controllable.

The filter itself also has CV inputs, so any CV source should be able to control the actual filter itself, though you'd still need to use MIDI to control the bypass. I'd think a MOOG MP-201 would be able to handle all of it for you though I've never tried it personally.

I briefly owned one and used a Behringer FCB1010 to control the Filter Factory. However, it ate up a ton of assigns as you need a 1-to-1 map of buttons/expression on the FCB1010 to a a feature on the Filter Factory, assuming you need to bop between settings mid-song.

Otherwise if you're using it as a basic LFO or expression swept filter you could just map the bypass to one button, expression to cutoff, and then manually toggle the other settings between songs with the front control panel.

I ran into similar issues with my filter queen. The expression pedals I tried with it could only use the full sweep of cutoff frequencies, which was no super useful. Also, you can get an on/off switch for it (I believe keyboard sustain pedals work), but it outputs at line level, so you would need some sort of effect loop or other bypass to rein it in.

Cool that the Filter Factory seems to have way more control options. Good luck.

The Filter Factory does not supply a Control Voltage, so a typical expression pedal will not work.

I have used an expression pedal that provides a voltage (0-5V if I recall correctly). I still have the pedal.

CV will only control the cutoff frequency, if I recall correctly. Midi will let you control everything.

ok yeah as was said already, it needs to be CV and that's not CV.

the MoFX+FF combo is super cool. I used to midi sync them and you could get some really spacey sounds--they were a really great quality too, but i couldn't get over the hum I always seemed to get.
