Howdy Guys? Need some help.

So I bought this stomp-box, EH Big Muff Pi (the green one), and it makes a lot of good sounds but I need to know if I botched this one. Did I make a good choice on a fuzz or did I fall victim of marketing scheme?
Like I said it makes great sound but its not exactly what I assumed. Maybe its my rig but I don't think so. Please, give me some straight answers.

1. Use the search.

2. What are your settings?

3. What's your setup?

You're using an Ampeg BA115 as listed on your profile, correct? The pedal is a great pedal, but as is my experience with the BA115 (I've owned it) such things don't sound their best through that amp (mostly because of the piezo tweeter).

Ain't what I thiank, it's what you thiank!

The only thing that really matters is do you and who you play for like your sound. Was this pedal purchased out of a need or a want? What's your previous experience with similar types of pedals? How does the EH compare? How much time have you spent learning the settings within your setup?

There's no shortage of reviews on fuzz pedals here. However, short of something very specific like Mark stated, your basically gonna have to use your own ears.

And remember some things sound terrible in your bedroom practice but great through your full stage rig and vice versa.

I think it's a very good pedal but what do you think?

BA 115, 50's P. You are right about volume, I've only played it through my headphones because I live on a apt complex. I have not heard it at full capacity. I need to make a trip to our studio. My amp is set mid 7 bass 6 treb 9 on the 1st style setting. I probably should have played it gig ready before I asked but I'm not exactly satisfied. I want more crunch. I've tried all the pedal settings more than once but maybe I'm just ignorant, for this being my first fuzz. Friend of mine had one and it sounded great but he was also running an Orange. That amp alone would do the trick. I don't think I did my research properly. But like I stated before, a trip to the studio will probably be what I need to find the sound I'm looking for.

If you want crunch, look into a vintage or vintage reissue rat.

So after reading through everything, I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. Is it just not a sound you're looking for? Too much distortion? Not enough? Bottom end loss? I have a bass big muff, and I absolutely love the sounds I can get out of it. I kind of gather you're looking for a more vintage sound. If that's the case, I think for one, the amp has a LOT to do with it. I'd say if that's the problem, I'd look into seeing if you can track down a VT Bass.

Yeah dude, I Love the sound but I thanks its just not what I wanted it to be. And after doing more research on my amp I do think that it could just be the quality of output.

So you didn't botch anything or fall for slick marketing. You picked up a good pedal that may not work with your setup. Off to classifieds for trade?

No, I'll probably keep it. I've got a few more stylistic ideas for it.

Awesome! It kinda bothers me when people give up too soon on a quality pedal.
Check out Bassfuzz.com for some great options.
