Electro Harmonix "Bass Metaphors" users - got a question for you!

I have a Sansamp VT Bass pedal. I want to get a distortion pedal that will layer a distorted signal tone over the tone I'm getting from the VT. I'd love to get a tone similar to the one in the attached clip, if I can. Will the Bass Metaphors do this?

Is the 1/4" out a line-level signal?

Couldn't you make one thread out of all the candidates for the distortion you are seeking?

Seems a bit like doubling or tripling.

The way I have used mine, the distortion on the Metaphors is just not very good, and really has no low end to speak of except what you add in from the other sections of the pedal. There is nothing line level about the Metaphors. I would recommend a boss LS-2 to do what you are describing.
