Electro Harmonix Octave Multiplexer ; Volume Drop - Mod(?)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi All,

I use a Electro Harmonix Octave Multiplexer quite a lot. Love the sound, much prefer it to Boss OC2.
However, when using the effect, I get a drop in level, which I understand is common. Get round this by using a boost after the effect.

Was wondering if anyone knows of a simple mod to remedy this, resistor change etc?

Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Many thanks
Nick

It surely would benefit of a level knob.

Possibly, but I don't really want to add any more controls on it.

Was hoping for some advice on what components could be changed to bring effected level up, without distortion etc.

Thanks anyway for your recommendation.

Anyone modded their EHX?

Cheers

Isn't the volume drop on the OM related to the blend knob position? I know that the 50/50 position is where the drop is most pronounced. So you could try playing with that and see what sounds best, hardly a perfect solution but I don't think any mod short of removing the blend would overcome this.

or you could put it in a loop with some kind of boost after it the good old fashioned way...

Yeah...50/50 position on blend is where it drops the most, not so bad when it's over to unaffected note.

Guess I'll have to continue using a boost.Have started developing a technique of pressing both switches at the same time!

Cheers for you advice

No one who has been playing around with this and possibly found a good mod for adding a level knob that amplifies (as this would most prolly need a lil circuitry...) .. ?

I love that pedal, but it's sure a pity with the volyme drop!

I'm guessing this thread is gone, but if anyone has figure out his mod please post! I'd hate to have to abandon this pedal because of a volume issue.
