Electro Harmonix The Worm

Sign in to disble this ad
I really could use some help getting opinions about the electro-harmonix the worm (analog phaser, vibrato, wah and tremolo) from people who either own it or have tried it. I want some modulation effects, but something like a line 6 mm4 or an eventide mod factor are out of my budget at the moment.
I have read that the effects on the worm are too subtle for bass, and I like my effects to be really heard when they're on, so if this is the case, I don't think it's gonna work for me.
Finally, maybe you guys could recommend another modulation multi-fx a little bit cheaper than the line 6 and the eventide. Thanks in advance!

What you have read - while possibly accurate - could be very misleading.

If you like your effects to be 'really heard' then how are you using Modulation?

After I got rid of my Worm my EHX BMS sounded awful.

The phaser sounds fantastic while oscillating and notched it can really sit you in wherever you need.

The trem is great for a simple trem, and the mod.wah is certainly a fun toy.

Phase wah - awesome.

when I was running mine I thought it ate my tone but it was my DL4.

Try it (like, really put some effort into it) and you'll probably like it a lot.

Of the phasers I've had and tried, this one is my favourite when it comes down to old school tone. Not over the top but when it does so much and so simply, you don't need over the top for $100.

I like mine, but I don't love it. It does 4 things pretty good but nothing great. I do agree that the effect is very subtle, but not too subtle to be usable.

It's more of a tool than a toy...and one thing it does great is make a BMS sound like a real synth circuit.

The phase (manual) is awesome for looping/doubling/acoustic guitar.

i want one now.

Maybe you should check this out http://www.zcatpedals.com/?dir=view&...0818194445xiVC
It's smaller and runs on regular 9v power. I'd be contemplating getting one if I weren't so broke.

I thought the Worm was garbage....one of the weaker EH offerings but I already owned the Wiggler, a Maestro/Moog phaser and a Guyatone Zip tremolo.. Mine had a big volume drop when stomped that felt like 5 db or so. Could just be another case of poor EH quality control
