Lightbulb The ElectroHarmonix Bass Metaphors

I was doing further research into further pedals, and came across this beautiful thing:

I was just wondering if anyone who owns this, or has used this, can give me some feedback on how good it is (ie. the indestructability test, how it sounds etc). Any help would be useful, I've already done a search and not much came up...

Looks like bassfuzz.com reviewed it.

I'm strongly considering buying one of these. I have searched all over this site and other review sites, and I'm shocked to see so few reviews. Is no one using these?

I had one for a while and sold it. It just didn't do anything that made me keep it on. It also has some fatal flaws. Can't run the effected signal balanced and unbalanced at the same time. Can't be battery powered. The compressor has only one knob and the compression is of the crush and swell type that is brutal to my ears. The distortion channel couldn't be run by itself because it kills the lows, and the distortion switch was hard to use because it just added in the distortion signal - boosting the volume. The EQ didn't do enough for me to make me want to keep it, though to be fair, I am not big on subtle EQ changes so you may like that portion better than I. I got some clips in the wiki, but they aren't real conclusive. I would recommend an M80 or BDDI over the Metaphors.

I own it and use it. If you're looking for heavy handed compression (takes away ALL finger dynamics), minimal distortion (I hate distortion), and an amp-clipping pre-amp with a very strange eq config, this box is for you.

I bought it to add some steam to my 350W ampeg when using my weak active 5 string (it helps) and seems best when used through the effects loop. Had it for 10 gigs and still exploring the possibilities. It's also a competent direct box. For the price I'd rate it a 6 out of 10. Personally, I like the 'no battery' feature. It is a very well made unit, though. Not for everybody.

I like mine after adjusting the trim pots inside. I have used it for at least 20 gigs, and I always like it's sound through FOH. I run direct to the PA, I don't use it with a bass amp.
