Electronic Experts needed... 1/4" connector issues

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,

I just got a Boss RGE-10 graphic EQ handed to me, it's awesome, but the 1/4" input and output jacks need to be fixed. I've stuck a screw driver inside and pulled down the prongs a bit, and although it's better, it still makes a static roar if I move the EQ, especially the output. I opened up the cover to have a better look, and the connectors are soldered into and through the circuit board and there are capacitors right behind the jacks which disables me from getting in there.

There is also one RCA in put and an RCA output. If I used a 1/4" female adapter with two RCA males (leaving one RCA jack unplugged) on each jack would there be any loss in sound quality? Is there anything else that could be done to the 1/4" jacks?

Many thanks,

Matt

Nevermind guys, figured it out. Got two gold shielded cables with a male 1/4" into a single male RCA, plugged it right into my effects loop and it sounds awesome.
