What's the difference between the Electronix Submarine and the Keeley 4 Knob Compressor?

First of all, the Submarine is a pre-amp, which can help shape your original tone while the Keeley is a compressor, a completely different animal. COmpressors are gain based devices that attempt to add a clarity or for those who are crazy, squash the sound.

So, what are you looking for?

Thanks for the information. I am fairly new to the pedal world, and have purchased a C4, but have not received it yet to a/b it with the submarine. I tried a C4 out at a local shop and really like how my bass sounded through it. Then i found out that Keeley offers a custom color.....so....I am waiting on it to arrive. Such a glutton for punishment. I had planned on using the C4 for recording other instruments as well, so it will serve more than one purpose.

Check the FAQ linked in my sig for a detailed explanation of what exactly a compressor is and does. The Submarine just boosts your signal with a subtle bit of tone-shaping.

It's not really an A/B situation. It's like comparing a truck versus a motorcycle. Both will transport you, but have differing uses.

Thank you for the link, bongomania, I appreciate that! It's funny, Os from ElectroniX sent me the same link and I have made my way through a few of the pages.
