Embarrassing effects newbie question

If you have let's say 3 pedals that you want to engage/disengage simultaneously in the middle of a song, what's the best way do it without having to hit multiple pedal switches?

A bypass loop pedal. This is a pedal that consists of an input/output, loop output/return, and an on/off switch. What you do is place your three pedals in the loop of this pedal, leave them all on, and just kick on the loop pedal when you want your effects.

Thanks for resolving this mystery without my having to lose face by asking a guitarist.

Jimmy, maybe I should forget the loop pedal and start taking tap dancing lessons?

When you say put it in the loop... does that mean between the bass and effects, or between the effects and amp?

Sorry for the dumb question... effects noob

The loop pedal sits between your bass and your amp, and the effects are chained between the send and return sockets on the loop. The switch on the loop pedal sends the signal through the effects or bypasses them and sends your signal straight from your bass to your amp. This is the simplest setup; some pedals have multiple loops, and you may of course also put effect pedals before and after the loop pedal.

Think of the loop pedal as a detour, a scenic route for your signal. You can either go straight from A -> B (bass to amp) or engage the loop pedal which has all your effect in it and take the scenic route: bass -> effects -> amp.

I've been doing this with the vt deluxe lately by making the a and b channels the same besides for the fx loop being on or off. Then I just switch different loop and done.
