So today I came home with a Korg Kaoss Pad 3. It's been about four hours and I only looked up because it got dark out and I was feeling seizurish with all of the blinking LEDs on my pedal board. Like x-mas it was. Anyway, this thing is infinitely entertaining, especially if you have a loop station.

A detailed review, maybe with soundclips, to come.

GC used site has them for around 199 used sometimes. The band I jammed with for a while www.myspace.com/stuckinkaos had a guy that did sounds and he used one. It was incredible. Their live clips they have up any sounds

I'm talking about the Kaoss Pad 3 (min. advertised price is $400). The Kaoss Pad 2s go for about $199.

As to worth it, wait for the review. I'm having a blast, but I may be one of the few who plays solo/is able to spend some time changing between effects and find exactly what I want.

Oh, and if anyone is looking for a Kaoss Pad or anything that might be considered DJ equipment, check out MC Audio in Madison, WI. I'm in Madtown for schooling, but they do lots of phone orders and their website will be up soon. It isn't a big shop and the owner's there six days a week -- it's all just him and a credit card. Really nice guy, was interested in what I was using it for and made sure that I knew about the other options.

Super nice, great customer service AND when I asked how much for a Kaoss Pad 3, he told me $320 off the bat. He didn't have it in stock and he's not a Korg dealer, but it only took him two days to get it to me after I asked for it.

I've been thinking of getting one as they look like they could be quite entertaining, and I do use a loop station.

But I mainly see them advertised as samplers/loopers, I honestly dont really know what they do....
