Empress Phaser vs. Pigtronix EP-2

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone have direct experience with these two pedals? The Empress is seems to be less common probably due to the price tag, but any insight would be appreciated.

Also, is the Pigtronix a 4 stage phaser?

MANY thanks!

What kind of insight are you hoping for? Thery're very similar with a couple of slight differences.

I have an EP-1 and love it, as I have a few mods done, all of which are standard on teh EP-2. Different voicing and DC power though - I would urge you to try the EP-1 as well if you can find one with a good price tag. The Sweep expression mod (standard on the EP-2) makes all the difference with fitting this pedal into the mix to me (along with the marv mod and the EP-1's shape control, WHICH ISN'T ON THE EP-2)

I can get uni-vibey, envelope filtery, envelope phase, phase wah, boosts, and slight texture changes all with this pedal. Not so 'over the top'/Effect as much as subtle sonic tool which isn't what most people are after.

Something tells me the empress would nail the tool vs/ effect side better than the EP-2, though you can always turn things DOWN a notch on the Ep-2
