english muff´n as a pre

Sign in to disble this ad
i just thought about using my muffin as a pre-amp bypassing
the MARKBASS Litttle Marks´s pre, going direct to the EFFECTS IN.
Right now i leave the pedal on allmost all the time annyway.
Like it where it just starts to break up givin that smooth tubey compressed feeling.
Now im thinking, the less signal processing the better.
Am i right? Is anybody using it that way?

I don't think the Muff'n has enough output gain to completely bypass your LMK's pre, but you're right otherwise that sometimes less signal processing can be better, and that using the "effects in" (AKA return) jack is often a good way to achieve that. Give it a try and let us know. Worst thing that can happen is you might not be able to get as loud as before.

tried it today at rehersal....
works perfectly.
The muff´n has more than sufficient output to drive the
poweramp section, when the volume knob was fully cranced on the pedal it was definitely more output than the markbass pre has.
Think i found a great tube substitute till my V4 arrives

Glad that worked out... I'll have to give it a shot with a couple other pedals one of these days.

Did you notice any difference in sound?
