English Muff'n tube order - series or parallel?

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a search here and on the web for information or a schematic and struck out.
Does anyone know if the Muff’n tubes cascade (one into the other) or both output at the same time in parallel?
If it’s both at the same time tube order wouldn’t matter, if they cascade it would.
I know 12AX7’s have more gain etc. but if you change the order of two different gain tubes (12AX7>12AU7 vs. 12AU7>12AX7) it should make a difference, right?
If this has been covered and I missed it a point in the right direction would also be appreciated.
Thanks.

Subscrizzled for interest

Im pretty sure they cascade, but im not too sure. I base my conclusion of such on the observation that one tube (the left IIRC) was always "brighter"/more lit on the 2 Muff'ns that I have owned.

There was a thread a long time ago with a schematic.

Modify English Muff'n?

I agree that its cascading. I have a 12AT7 into a 12AX7 in mine. I just kind of picked 2 at random at guitar center and switched them around until i found something I liked.

Thanks DirtyMoocher and MAMMOTHvolume.

I must admit, from the schematic I still am not sure which tube is first in line.
Is it left then right?

Thanks

If I still had mine I'd be very tempted to unscrew the middle post holding the various boards together and trace the circuit with the schem......

I'm intrigued by the C4 mod mentioned in the link myself. I just might crack mine open and take a peek.

Im pretty sure the left tube 'glows' brighter because it's closest to the 'tube glow' LED.. hehe..

Im interested in this subject as well; One of my tubes burned out (im assuming) a while back and I've been meaning to order some ax7's to try out, but wasn't sure what exactly I needed to order.

I'm gonna assume that's what you're assuming/insinuating "Lamp 1" is (LED 1/2 seem to be the power and effect indicators).

+1. Not that it sounds the least bit bad now, but it couldn't hurt to see (you know, unless I get shocked).
