Seriously, without price or a sound I can recommend to you almost ANY envelope filter and it will do funk in some way shape or form. For instance, I'm pretty sure I could do funk with a Bassballs, but about half the people that use a Bassballs HATE IT.
Every time I buy a filter the grass gets greener on the other side. I've had a Q-Tron, a Proton and now the SA BEF and I'm wondering if I should have an MXR bef instead.
I'd suggest watching several test videos (especially from Prymaxe Vintage), list the ones you like and then throw a dart to pick one.

The 3 Leaf Wonderlove is arguably the best envelope filter to hit the market since the Lovetone Meatball.
^This. Best sounding filter IMO, with tons of flexibility. If you're looking for something with simpler controls check out the Proton (same company). Check out the sound clips on the 3leaf website.
Thinking of switching to my MF-101 Moogerfooger low-pass filter - want to use an expression pedal sometimes to control the filter instead of the envelope follower, plus I finally realized (with the help of the GR-2) that I can set the mix to include the clean tone with the Moogerfooger - we'll see how it goes...

The controls on the EHX Qballs get me any filter sound I want. It's saved me a ton of money - I no longer need/want several envelope filter pedals with different characters.
