Which envelope filter do you like? Sound samples!

Currently testing two popular envelope filters and I'd like to know which sound other folks prefer. To me, this is not a 'one is better', they are just different. To keep it unbiased, I won't reveal which pedals they are yet. You can PM me if you really need to know, though

Equipment used:
Warwick Streamer Jazzman
DR Dragon Skin Strings
Hartke Bass Attack straight to my PC
All of these clips are done with a looper, so volume, playing intensity, notes, everything is identical.

Clean tone:

Envelope 1:

Envelope 2:
http://chuckamuck.com/sounds/envelope/env2.mp3

I'm adding some 'real world' clips, this is exactly how the pedal will be used.
I have some recordings of my band with no bass tracks, so I can add whatever I want!
This is us doing Jimi Thing, with the bass way high in the mix so it can be heard

Pedal1:

Pedal 2:

New clip update March 17, 12:15am!!

These latest clips may have chosen the winner for me.

Envelope 2 is interesting but I don't hear it cutting thru as well as envelope 1

1 sounded a little bit more aggressive. 2 sounded good just a bit mellow sounding for me.

I think I like #2 better but I couldn't know for sure without playing them myself. The first sounded more vocal, more Framptonesque.

Sounded like #2 had a higher frequency range and a slightly higher sensitivity. I think I prefer #1 as well, would probably be more noticeable in a mix.

I like the first one. The second one sounds kind of farty in the mids, to my ear.

Is Envelope 1 an MXR BEF, and is Envelope 2 a Source Audio BEF? I think I like Envelope 1 better, especially in the mix.

On the second set of clips I thought #1 sounded better although it did seem to loose some low end, #2 was a fatter sound but seemed like it was in danger if getting lost and/or muddy.
On the third set I liked #2 better, it's action was less subtle while #1 sounded somewhat unfocused.

I liked number two the whole way for the things you were playing. The smoothness of the songs seemed to call for it more. If the stuff you were playing was more staccato and jumpy I'd probably have gone with number 1.

I think no 1 is the mxr bef and 2nd is the bassball. Soundwise I prefer 2 to 1.

Fascinating, neither of those two were on my radar, and they still aren't.
