Currently testing two popular envelope filters and I'd like to know which sound other folks prefer. To me, this is not a 'one is better', they are just different. To keep it unbiased, I won't reveal which pedals they are yet. You can PM me if you really need to know, though
Equipment used:
Warwick Streamer Jazzman
DR Dragon Skin Strings
Hartke Bass Attack straight to my PC
All of these clips are done with a looper, so volume, playing intensity, notes, everything is identical.

Envelope 1: http://chuckamuck.com/sounds/envelope/env1.mp3
Envelope 2: http://chuckamuck.com/sounds/envelope/env2.mp3
I'm adding some 'real world' clips, this is exactly how the pedal will be used.
I have some recordings of my band with no bass tracks, so I can add whatever I want!
This is us doing Jimi Thing, with the bass way high in the mix so it can be heard

Pedal 2: http://chuckamuck.com/sounds/envelope/jimien2.mp3 New clip update March 17, 12:15am!!
These latest clips may have chosen the winner for me.

| | | | Sounded like #2 had a higher frequency range and a slightly higher sensitivity. I think I prefer #1 as well, would probably be more noticeable in a mix.

| | | | Is Envelope 1 an MXR BEF, and is Envelope 2 a Source Audio BEF? I think I like Envelope 1 better, especially in the mix.

On the third set I liked #2 better, it's action was less subtle while #1 sounded somewhat unfocused. |

| | | | I think no 1 is the mxr bef and 2nd is the bassball. Soundwise I prefer 2 to 1.
