Question envelope filter help please

Sign in to disble this ad
i'm starting to add some funk to some bass lines and want an envelope filter. I started using my BSW to see if the principle was sound and it was so i got an enigma but it doesn't sound squelchy or wet enough for me.

Should i be looking for another filter or is it user error with the enigma?

Thanks in advance

play around with it. try all knob positions and combinations. could be the wrong thing, could be you just haven't found the sound.

A few reviews I've read stated that the Enigma has lots of available and useable sounds, but that it takes some dedicated experimenting to unleash them.

Most folks say it's way up there on the "wet-o-meter". But what's right for you is still subjective.

My standard 'I can't get this filter to sound right' suggestion is to turn the sensitivity way down and slowly bring it up until you get the response you're looking for. It's been a while since I played with the Enigma, but IIRC it sounded best when the start and stop were within 25% of each other.

Good luck.

I own an Enigma...to me it's a wet sounding filter, but not a squelcher. But "wet" is all too subjective, when describing envelope filters. Maybe you should describe what type of sound you're after....if you want Bootsy, the Enigma will get that for you.
