envelope filter is more responsive to neck pickup

Sign in to disble this ad
Couple of months ago, I posted a question here about how to set up my Ibanez AF9 Auto filter correctly as I though that mine lacks responsiveness. Some good guys responded and I got the answers I was looking from.

Few days ago I found that that pedal is more responsive to my playing when I play on neck pickup. It sounds wetter. I notice this on all my bass. Is it just me or any of you have the same experience ? Is there any technical explanation on this ?

many thanks...

You get more fundamental from the neck pup, so perhaps that improves the response from the filter.

when it comes to AF9 it all on tweaking it!!! if you have or got it used chances are that some one tweaked it before you... so it might not work for you!!!
i have two AF9 one maxon and one ibanez and they are both set differently even if you set the knobs and slides to exact the same positions!!!

It completely works for me. I just wonder why is it more responsive to neck pickup compared to both pickup played....

and yes, it's used one...

i meant tweaking on the inside not outside there are 3 hidden trimmers...

and i think one pick up always sounds better that two... at least to me... and i prefer the neck

i wouldent use a bridge pickup with an envalope filter..

neck pickups are friendlier with most effects. especially filters.
