Which Envelope Filter, Reverb and OD/Distorton?

I am starting to build up a board. I have my Boss TU-2 Tuner, MXR Phase 90, Boss CEB-3 Chorus, and BBE Opto Stomp. I'm looking for an Envelope Filter, Reverb and OD/Distortion.

I'd like to keep them smaller and not super expensive, but want a good sound and not too much tweakability. I like things like my MXR Phase 90 - 1 knob.

Check out the EHX Micro Q-Tron for a simple to use Envelope. It is my favorite of the 5 envelope filters that I own. My other filters include the MXR Auto Q, Ashdown Envelope Filter, EHX Bass balls and the EHX Q-Tron Plus. The Micro Q-Tron is my go to.

Hi Steve

Envelope filter: Chunk Systems Octavius Squeezer
Reverb: EBS Dynaverb
Overdrive: Xotic BB Preamp, Xotic RC booster with an Xotic X Blender.

they are very compact except the Octavius which is a tad bigger.

hope that helps
Funky

Ummmmmm....... hmmmmm.

+1 to the micro q-tron. I also have a Holy Stain which has reverb and dirt (fuzz or drive) together. The reverb is pretty good, and it has a clean blend, but the dirt is pretty noisy and has no input gain control. May be a few more knobs then you want, but the thing is $100 new, and pretty simple to use. If not that then I'd recommend a Holy Grail for 'one knob' options.

I absolute love the Mutron III+ from H.A.Z Labs. It's a bit expensive but sounds really good on bass. Much better than the Qtron IMHO.

I just bought the Fulltone Bass Driver and still messing with it. It doesn't retain the low end as I expected but has a nice bite. In my first tests I found that it works better with active basses and in 18 volts mod.

Envelope Filter: Price range? Do you want subtle, gurggly, vocal, or laser beams?

Reverb: I know nothing.

OD/Dist: Price Range? Do you use a solid state or tube amp? Active or passive bass?

I guess subtle and gurggly, like Jamirquai (Blow Your Mind) and maybe under $150ish?

I use a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 SS combo.

Subtle and limited size control: Boomstick Bottom Feeder - DOD 440 Clone for bass. It's not very gurggly, but I think this is a clip from Tastee that kind of captures the feel a bit of the 'Blow Your Mind' sound.

My preferred gurggly is The Syle Green Filter (here is a more subtle clip). All samples. It fits the price range, but might be a little more tweak-able than you are looking for.

So for OD/Dist do you want something that is angry, or just warming you up a bit (or capable of both)?

If you plan to use the effect unit in the effects loop on the amp, be sure it will work properly with a line level (+4dBV) signal. Otherwise you can use it between the bass and the amp.

Gonna be in line, no loop, on a not too big board I hope.
