EQ pedal questions

Hey all,

I'm gonna be getting a new amp soon, a GK 700RBII, which only has a 4 band eq on it. My current amp, an Ampeg Svt-350 has a 9 band eq, which is very useful for getting a sculpted sound. I believe having a sound which can be tweaked down to the tiniest detail is very necessary to having a satisfactory sound.

Currently there is a Trace Elliot SM7EQ for sale here, and I have heard that the Boss Equalizer is decent sounding. I want a pedal that sounds professional, and every Boss pedal I've played sounds, feels, and looks like a toy.

Do you have any recommendation for an eq pedal for me?
Ideally I'd like to spend less than $150 and buying used is A.O.K.

Thank you

The Trace is a good unit, especially if you sometimes use a mid-scooped tone, as that is one of the footswitchable "features". If you never mid-scoop, you might find it takes up more pedalboard real estate than it's worth for one channel of EQ. The MXR 10-band is pretty good. And if you're really into signal tweaking, the Presonus EQ3-B is a very useful tool (but not a pedal). Keep an eye out for the TC Electronic parametric EQ pedal as well, although it may be out of your price range.
