EQ Stomp Boxes

Sign in to disble this ad
I know there is a thread on here somewhere that has different options for a stomp box EQ. If somebody can give me some guidance or point me to a thread it would be much appreciated.

If there is not one let's get one going. Best stomp box EQ pedal prices, features etc.?

Best price/performace ratio: Danelectro Fish'n'Chips EQ pedal. 7 bands, good clean headroom (I use on in my guitar amp's effects loop) and dead quiet - no hiss. Also footswitchable and has an independent level (volume) control. You could pay more, but why?

Good call! how do you use it? Do you actually EQ it out or do you use it as a boost? I am just curious the best way to get into one of these.

I use the boss bass eq.....why because it was the only one in the store when i wanted one..
I have noticed it degrades the natural signal a bit.....i dont think about that much with my guitar gear cause i have to have several pedals....but bass just using one or two....kinda slapped me upside the head as far as true bypass and all that jazz.

I use 2 eq pedals a Boss GE7B, the old brown one with different eq points and a [sfx] AY2 which is an updated version of the old Yamaha NE1 pedal sort of a semi parametric. Can't say I prefer one over the other they are so different and do different things. GE7B is my boost and tone for fretless and the AY2 is used to give me 3 additional tones from my modernish bass, 2 are more vintage and one is a nice slap setting.

The new Eq from Source Audio looks very interesting.

EQ pedals are the most useful thing you can get IMO.

The whirlwind Bass ten looks killer but of course function over style I am def looking at the mxr and the boss and the danelctro and that is mainly because of the price. Times is hard for everybody!

Somewhat self serving as I have one for sale... The Trace Elliot SM-7 EQ just smokes! I've used a few different stomp EQ's. The audio quality of the Trace is amazing for a stomper.

I had the MXR 10 too. Good pedal.

But, if you can get your hands on the Yamaha NE1 parametric EQ--much better. Research it and you'll see why.

Used a old boss GE-7B with brown and gold case. Used it mainly a boost to get better sound out of the old poopy amp i had. Once i changed amps i stoped using it. Use to keep it in my case, because sometimes soundguys would get my direct signal straight from my bass. So i would use the EQ before the direct box so i would have more control over my tone than just the slap happy poopy tone that the sound man would give me. usually just cut the highs and boost the lows. or do some mid tweaks depending on how well i could hear the house pa and how the room sounded.

Meh its ok hard to find..no switch.

Another old school boss brown and gold pedal was the PQ-3B which was Parametric with boost and cut, and a sweep for bass mid and high. not just a mid cut like the yamaha

I use the pedal for my TC Electronic amp for 3 different EQ/Compression/Tube settings. I also have the PQ-3B, and love it. I also use my M9 with an expression pedal to get a range of EQ's from bright to dark on the fly.

I have the SWR Marcus Miller pre and it's got more eq than I use.
