im sorry if this sounds noobish but i have a question about my equalizer pedal. is it possible that i just leave my eq on my amp flat and just use the equalizer pedal as my main eq? even with a multi-effect pedal i have patches with difrent eq shapes and was wondering if i could just leave my amp eq flat and switch from patch to patch. thanks guys

Yes, you could use the pedal as your main eq. I do it all the time.

I run my EQ pedal so I can just stomp on the box and get a sound different from what I have already Eq'd. For example, if I need to pop and slap, all I have to to is step on the box and the highs are already dialed in. I just set the EQ so that the frequencies that are not needed are flattened or cancelled out.

The EQ also works well to brighten or beef up the sound so effects such as an evelope filter takes on a different color.

I used to use an EQ pedal as my main EQ all the time, because on my old amp, I didn't really like any of the settings I could get out of it's 3 band EQ. Now that I've got a new amp with a 5 band EQ, I set up my EQ pedal as a secondary EQ set to change my tone up for different situations.
