Ernie Ball Volume Pedal Conundrum

Ok, i know this has been beaten like a dead horse. I know that the active EB pedal works better with active instruments, and the passive for passive instruments. However, my bass has an active preamp but passive pickups (emg HZ). Is this classified as an active instrument then? Or do the passive pickups make it passive....
Finally, what is the difference between the active and passive eb pedals and the eb 6166 seen here: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/p...dal?sku=152103
Thanks for the help guys

If any part of your instrument needs a battery, then it is classified as active.
