Eventide Pitchfactor vs EHX Hog

Sign in to disble this ad
Both are about the same price.
The eventide has a lot more features (it seems), but it looks complicated and it's digital.
The hog is almost all analog, it has less features but it still has a lot and it's a LOT easier to use.
Which would you pick if you had $500?

AFAIK, aside from the manual sliders, the HOG is completely digital like the Pitchfactor.

I've never ab'ed them, but I own the Pitchfactor and it is far from complicated to use and get good sounds out of it. I also believe the PF takes up less real estate as you don't have to buy a separate pedal to recall presets.

HOG is digital as well.
I have Pitchfactor and I love this thing. Got it used for about $350. You would want to get a footswitch to be able to list banks down at least. One of my favorite toys + I'm using it almost in every song.

There is a short list of things the HOG can do that the Pitchfactor can't, but a laundry list the other way. I love my Pitchfactor, though you'll need an expression pedal to get the most out of it.

Theres a youtube video that compares and contrasts the 2. I owned the hog and returned it rather quickly, I would like to try the pitchfactor one day. For the money I'd go pf.

I've never owned the Pitchfactor, but the HOG wins hands down in the 'what you see is what you get' category. It also wins in the quantity of voices you can apply at the same time.

I loved the fact that when everything sounded off, I could look down and just tweak real easily. If you want a bunch of other effects and don't care about wysiwyg, then go PF.

Well what I'm talking about and web design aren't exactly the same thing .

In my short lived experience with putting together web pages wysiwyg rarely was.

To clarify my previous statement, I don't like to program effects. It takes up a ton of time at a rehearsal, and it usually sounds wrong if I do it outside of rehearsal. Also when I program a setting and leave it for a few months, I forget how I got to that sound, which sucks big time if you somehow lose the preset. I prefer to learn my gear well enough through tweaking on how to find sounds. This is why I prefer the HOG in principal. I look down and see what the settings are, and change them to what I think they need to be and I can see what is going on if it doesn't work.

If this isn't your style, then the PF probably wins hands down.
