| | | | Ever bought a pedal to match others on the board?

Just bought an MXR Bass Envelope Filter and considering buying the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe just to match them together. I have the EBS Octabass and I'm happy with it... still, you know?
So have anyone bought a pedal just to match something else on the board? Brandwise or simply cosmetics...

However I think I'm going to get an Analogman Mini Chorus (again), which is also the same size as the Bajo Mos, and then I can have a red/blue thing going on. |

My board was all MXR stuff for a while, but I've since saw the silliness in that and sold off the pedals I wasn't impressed with and bought other brands to replace their effect on the board. Now I buy pedals based off their tone, not off their brand. I'm happier this way.

I love the DIY look of the enclosures and would love to get similar ones. Or, hell, more Boss compact pedals. I love the simple look of the three knob Boss pedals, like a DS-1. A board that looks like it was put together by a 14 year old garage playing teenager on a budget yet sounds like the lovechild of Tom Scholz and David Gilmour in terms of quality.... that is my dream. |

But to each their own.

Just like my current "metalboard" it started by accident but I liked the look.
I'd never choose pedals because of the way they looked. With my current board I have the best overdrive I've ever had (Darkglass B3K) and the most musical ring mod (Randy's Revenge) and the awesome, awesome Xerograph. The Empress Superdelay is awesome and just happened to be offered in bare metal version. Same thing with getting a silver Keeley phaser. The only pedal I went to lengths with was the Brown Dog which I had rehoused. I'll likely do the same with my Prunes & Custard.
I dig the look of my board. But it has the pedals it does because they are exactly what I want and need soundwise. |

I love pedals with top mount jacks so you can butt them up next to each other. I don't know why all pedals companies don't do that but whatevs.
I guess you could say that Small EQ's Source Audio boards fit the OPs description. |

The only time it's ever been an issue is when pedals are different heights and have stomps at the edges. But I've only run into that a few times and been able to rearrange my board to deal with it.
