EWS BMC Issue

Just got this in the mail via a TB deal and am hoping it's not a bad pedal.

The pedal when engaged, even w/the trim all the way up, has quite a bit of volume loss and the tone "thins out" quite a bit. Not unlike when two pickups are out-of-phase. Happens with or w/out the battery and I'm using a regular old Boss 9v power supply. And yes, I've got the trim, gain and eq set flat per the instructions.

True bypass is just that: True bypass and works fine.

I'm using the pedal with an active Lakland with a Hanson pre.

Am I missing something obvious? Thanks in advance for any help!

I have the trim up on mine with upper mids cut for my slap tone, the volume at this setting is more or less transparent

With both at noon I get an increase in gain

Yours sounds faulty yo me, pity it really is a great little pedal

Thanks for the reply!

I'm positive I have all controls/trims set properly. And I've tried the pedal with a passive and an active bass and with a bass amp AND a mixing board. Same results.

Is it possible for a pedal to be wired "out of phase"? Could the + and - wires be connected backwards on an input/ouput?

Can you talk to whoever you got from?
Unless they had a play with a soldering iron I doubt that this is the case...

Thanks again! And yes, talked to the seller. Once he got my PM he graciously offered to buy it back.

I didn't mean it to sound like he was going to stick me withthe pedal. My OP was not worded well and in hindsighty sounded like the seller was non-responsive and going to stick me with the pedal which is not true. I'll edit the OP.

EWS has great customer service too.

I know you're sending it back, but when I had a problem with my BMC, Hosio (in customer service) sent me a second generation model (the one retail stores are selling now) and told me to compare it to my version. I had both pedals for a week, kept the second one, and sent the first back to EWS. Awesome.

I think this is a one off, don't be too put off, the BMC is a great little pedal.

Don't be worried about getting another one, highly recommended.
