In the interest of disclosure, I remember reading in a magazine years ago that he used either a Dbx or Boss compressor before the Boss OC-2. He used a similar sound on Pete Townsend's "Give Blood" too. Both of these tunes were done with fretless bass.

I want to say Levin on "Sledge Hammer".
Also thinking of "Walking on Sunshine", but may just be my memory of liking to use it on that chorus.
