Have ordered from this guy, Aaron, twice. Great prices and quality if you have a need for them. No hassles. Flawless service.
I did try ordering recently from Butch at Bayou Audio Cables. Horrible experience. Poor communication. Blew me off twice (didn't answer emails) when I tried to ask about status several weeks later - this after he told me it would ship in just a "few days." Finally, I had to dispute the purchase on PayPal which immediately got his attention. Refund given. I know some people swear by him. But, can only tell you what happened to me. YMMV.

I bought some a while ago, and I ended up just throwing them away, they were so poor quality. But if people are happy with the ones this guy is using, then maybe the ones he uses are a different tier of quality, or maybe I just got some bad ones.
FWIW about Butch, I think he kind of fell apart after a while. Lots of us did a bunch of entirely positive business with him for a couple of years, but then things started to get a bit flaky and difficult, and it kind of spiraled downhill after that. The last order I placed with him was in the "flaky" stage, where he was super friendly and prompt in both communication and delivery, but the goods weren't quite what I had ordered. I'm still willing to give him a chance to get his act together, but I don't think I'll be placing any orders with him until I hear from other people that he's back in the saddle. |

Not sure what to say vis-a-vis the pancakes. They are working fine for me and apparently with the other people this guy has been doing biz with. At least no negative feedback I've read on the rather long thread. If there were issues first, people would post about them and I doubt he'd be using them. Ask him what he uses. I've been using some 4" ones he made me for a couple of months. No issues at all. Just getting some longer ones made now.
The Butch thing....it is what it is. I read some good stuff about him and Bayou Audio Cables - nothing like your observations. Though, wish I had. Would have saved me some time. I was quite pissed as I gave him EVERY benefit of the doubt and was still treated poorly. Unfortunately, I had to go to the mat at the end to resolve it. Once I did this he responded literally within hours. I hate having to do stuff like that. Just wanted to let my fellow TB'ers know. They can make up their own minds based on the evidence. There are enough people who really want our biz and we should patronize them. Aaron (the cable guy so to speak) is one of them. I have no interest in all of this except to pass on my experiences both positive and negative.

But, that's good to know that there's someone making cables that isn't charging a complete arm or leg and delivers.

I like their low profile and using them is a lot easier on the jacks of my basses. I have never had any problems with them.
