External Preamp after effects is best in chain?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've read that my sadowsky preamp pedal should go in first in my chain before my effects.
i tried the otherway, put my overdrive before the preamp (bass-OD-preamp-amp)
and it made the overdrive sound louder and better.
when the preamp was before the OD, the OD sounded pretty much the same whether i had the preamp on or off.
do u guys find that this is the case?

"Best" is always going to be whatever sounds best to you. If someone tells you one way is the "best" way, try it out- they might have a really good idea. But don't get stuck on their opinion, if you like it better in a different arrangement.
