Fail: need a little help with blue box mod

Okay, so I almost love the sound of my Blue Box. I've always almost loved it, so I've tried to make it better a few times, all of which have failed pretty miserably.

Yesterday I tried performing the mod where you remove the C11 cap. As per instructions, I simply removed it (planned on adding a switch later). Well, it now kills all signal when the pedal is engaged.

The only time I've been able to get signal is when I used my finger to bridge the connection. I tried soldering a wire across the points where I took out the cap, nothing. I put the cap back in, nothing.

Help, I've lost my mostly beloved blue box -- anyone with experience of this or ideas please chime in.

At this time, are you still able to get signal by bridging the traces with your finger?

Just got home and opened it up. Tried finger contact -- nothing, with or without the cap in.

You did something else besides remove the cap then (unknowingly). Time to build an audio probe and start poking around...

Okay, will make one shortly.

As another approach, does anyone know the value of C11?

So close but so far.

I've managed to make it work again, but it's stuck in full blend and the gate is pretty much bypassed. Will keep tinkering I guess.

And now output gain is ridiculously high. Unity gain is under 9 o'clock
