The switch on my tube screamer doesn't always like to actually turn the effect on anymore. When I press down the LED glows at half brightness, no switching takes place, and when I let up my foot it goes off.
I have to try 2-5 times to get it to come on, but it does eventually switch and stay, so I'm using my looper right now to switch it in and out. I'm a bit afraid one night its not going to come on.
I'm considering sending it to Keeley for a true bypass mod along with the baked mod, but I don't really need to change the sound at all, so I'm wondering what my other options are for repair?
Suggestions? |

Also, how do you like the TS9DX on bass? I'm considering getting one and I'm wondering exactly how well it holds the bottom in Turbo mode. |

Its my favorite bass overdrive, but still sounds better on a blended effects loop (ALL distortions sound better that way IMO). |

The switches in Ibanez pedals don't usually go bad they just need to be cleaned or the contacts need adjustment or something. They're usually easily fixed. The DX has the same switch and main pcb as the TS9, so I don't see why AM wouldn't work on them. I've done 808 and true bypass mods on a DX before it was no problem.

Thats a drag since their mode mods sound better than Keeley's, and they're cheaper. |

Here's pics of a DX that I modded a while back and sold on ebay. I did true bypass, 808 specs, and the toggle selects between input caps in regular TS9 mode for more bass.

Any more details on how to clean or repair the existing contact? Since my pedal is in a loop I don't really need true bypass. |

You might not need true bypass but it'll at least take care of ever having the switch not work again.

Suggestions? | Check out the Jack DeVille Clickless True Bypass switch. It's a soft-touch unit that drops into the Ibanez pedal with a minimum of work. I know you don't necessarily need true bypass, but the DeVille unit is an easy way to replace a broken switch. I've got one in my Analog Man Silver-modded TS9DX and it works perfectly. If you don't want to solder, you can ship Jack DeVille your pedal and they'll install the switch at a very reasonable cost. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
