Also would have problem getting it with my M13 without a pick. |

I actually played one of these and instantly heard it.
Too bad I can neither find or afford one.

Now to a question...would you guys think I were nuts to do a pedalboard of "Muffs"?
It'll be:
Grey Stache
SUF CW
SUF Green
S&S Bluebeard
Swollen Pickle
Alright...I've lost it!

Great album. I also love "Heliotropic" off of fantastic planet. Too bad A Perfect circle didn't cover this song as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llxvuf_X_us

Also love that bass tone, and I get fairly close with a Ric, a Valve Drive, and a Mesa Buster 210/15 rig. Gnarly growl with an edge.

BTW: Do we know what Muff those guys used? I made a Green clone and get pretty damned close to the Heliotropic tone.

Keep in mind that I also own a Wal, however, so YMMV.

I've always read his main "overdrive" tone was a Rat. I've tried lots of Rats, including DIY ones but I've not been able to get that tone. Of course, I don't have the necessary Wal either. I still have a few things to try though. I think the trick to his overdrive tone is to dial the right amount of "crunch" without losing too much definition or bottom end (and not too fuzzy). Tall order I know!
To my ears, that FEA Dual Band clip sounds pretty damn good (and close). I think the Darkglass B3K would come close to copping that tone as well. I'm going to try both when I have a chance.
