fat boost FB-2

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, guys!

First of all...i am a very fan o TB and allways come here to solve my doubts...

Well, Im about to buy a new Boost-to-overdrive-a-valv-pre-amp and I want to know if Im doing a good trade.

i use to have a Sparkle Drive for distorted lines (which I use allways ON) and i use also an ART Pre AMP valv after (in the end of the chain), which gives more life to my sound.

I use a lot of pedals, from chorus, flanger, to fuzz, delay and ring modularor (a Moog one). Well...im thinking about to trading my main overdrive (which is a Sparkle Drive from Voodoo Labs) for a Fat Boost FB-2 Fulltone.

I like the Sparkle Drive mainly because it doesnot scoop the mids, so it fit very well with my Bass Wah (dunlop).

So I want to know from you guys, if the Fat Boost (FB-2) is allright with the mids (doesnt scoop them) and if this will give me a good boost to overdrive my valv pre-amp...

In resume, Im really worried about teh FB-2 scopp my mids and doesnt work very well with the Bass Wah.

Well...thanks for answering!

I would look at the FB-3 not the FB-2.

The FB-3 is a great pedal, ruler flat and super clean.

Hey Laurent, thanks for answering!
Do you have an FB-3, right?
But have you compared to FB-2?

The FB-1 was great; the FB-2 was a bad downgrade; the FB-3 was meant to bring back the good qualities of the first one with the design updates of the second one.

Note there are two versions of the FB-1, one with a tinny light and one with the current indicator. I am refering to the FB-1 with the current light (the larger one).

I hate to differ here but the FB-1 was not great. I have a FB-1 and a FB-3 currently on hand and was able to AB them. The FB-1 cuts a lot of lows. It is voiced for guitar and give you a bump in the mids. It is not transparent at all.
If this is what you want, to cut through that might be OK but in general it's not great.

The other issue with this pedal when it comes to bass is the single tone correction. It's too blunt of a correction for bass. The current FB=3 has a bass and a high correction which are really well done as far as the tone centers are concerned.

There is a lot written about these pedals but too many people rely on hear say and videos rather than hands-on real life experience.

OK, Laurent! Thanks for the reply.
