Faulty PD7 switch

Sign in to disble this ad
Ever since I bought it, the Ibanez PD7 has had a faulty switch. Every time I stomp, it turns on with my foot on the pedal, and when I take it off, it turns off. After a few stomps, it activates.

It was never a huge issue because I only used it for home experimentation, until now. Now I use it live, and I require very precise activation.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Any recommendations on a fix?

I had that problem too. But not so severe as you.

Do you really stomp on it?

That was my problem, the switch has to go all the way down.

I guess it's the internal contact that is a bit out of placement.

As soon as I get home I'll try to dismantle mine.

I'm not using it anymore anyway.

If it did that ever since you bought it, you should have taken it back right away. I'm guessing it's too late for that now? You might be able to fix it by cleaning the switch contacts- open it up and spray a smidge of Caig DeOxit in there and press the switch a few dozen times to work out the grime/corrosion. If that doesn't work you're seriously better off just buying a new pedal.

Or just glue a Necco wafer to the top of the switch inside so you don't have to stomp as far. Hey, it might work at least once.
