Any preferences for what works out in the real world? Looking at the Peterson and the TC Polytuner. Anything else I should be looking at? |

I kid, I kid. But why not just carry a small tuner like a Pitchjack with the bass? I doubt you could get the same precision from an iPhone.

Specs indicate the Peterson tuner is more accurate, but the Polytune functionality seems excellent. I'd personally use them for new instrument and intonation setups, not real tuning on stage or even practice. |

It'd be convenient; one less item to be concerned with ...but yeah, I've looked at the pitchjack. I could almost leave that in the tuner jack of my LMII and flip it up at gigs. But again- just another thing when my iPhone's right there regardless. Quote:

Both are very good options and I use them both quite a lot. |

Before I got the Polytune app, I tried a bunch of different tuner apps and had pretty much given up on them beig accurate. Since the Polytune was free for a little while, I checked it out and was very impressed. I used it at church this past Sunday, just put my phone on the monitor and tuned. Did the same thing at band practice and it worked like a charm. It does require a good loud sound to work, but I haven't had a single problem with it yet. One of the girls playing guitar on Sunday used it too and she loved it. |

| | | | got 'em both, and the peterson wins by a mile, as it's far more accurate. it's actually better than their dedicated $180 standalone virtual strobe tuner! (finer display and more processing power in the iphone).
the polytune is neat (i got it for free), but the peterson is the real deal.
