I'm about to purchase one of each. I want to know what people are using.
Thanks!

| | | | If you want tap tempo on the delay you'll be limited to the Diamond Memory Lane or the Malekko 919. I've not tried either but I've heard nothing but good things about the Memory Lane and I'm sure the 919 won't disappoint. |

Pay the money for a vintage DM-2 (analog delay)...accept no substitutes! You will be happy! As far as reverb....get a vintage reverb reissue or the real deal from fender..........of course that is if you do not mind paying an arm and a leg.....but again.......it's awesome!

Also used to play with a guitarist who had a old DoD 680 - that thing had self-oscillation unlike anything I've heard since...

There are fewer good reverb pedals out there, 99% of them are digital, some specialize in more modern tones and others in emulated spring reverb... Let us know what exactly you want it to sound like, then we can tell you what to try. |

It was built by Maxon & I believe the delay is similar to an AD-9. I LOVE this thing. I also have an old Soundtank EM-5, which is digital but sounds very analog(lo-fi, self-oscillates & it's tweakable in real-time w/o the usual digital glitching). For revrb I've been happy using a B2.1u, which is probably not the greatest but I don't use it much.

Hmmmmm analog delays...there are so many but for the price the Carbon Copy is tough to beat. |

| | The Dialogue // Bassicsgear Endorsing Artist: Maxon (Godlyke), Dava Control | | Join Date: Nov 2008 Location: Maryland | | | For the delay I was looking at Carbon Copy and Maxon AD999. Thank you everyone for your responses. I checked out some pretty cool pedals that everyone mentioned. I'm going to do a head to head comparison of the two and I'll let everyone know what I decide. As for the reverb I'm not really positive. I've owned the a few. The Verbzilla, RV-5 and RV-3. Out of those I'd probably go with the RV-5 again. I enjoyed the Spring, Hall and Room settings a great deal, but was hoping to find a great analog pedal. The hall is probably my favorite setting if that helps a bit. I want a very epic sounding reverb if possible, the bigger sound I can get from the reverb the better. Hopefully that helps!
Thank you everyone who has replied thus far! It is greatly appreciated!

The only analog reverb device that will fit in a pedal is a very small spring reverb, and only one company makes a tiny spring reverb in pedal form, the "Little Lanilei". It is cool, but it's not awesome compared to other spring reverbs, and that's the only thing it does. At all.
Otherwise, for anything shy of a larger spring reverb or similar device, reverb = digital. Although many analog delays can be set to a short delay time which sounds a lot like reverb. |

I think I'm just going to compare an RV-5 and a Verbzilla again tomorrow and pick one for now and if I come along something else than that would be great as well. Some more mementos to add to the collection. Thanks!

Something to consider...

As I remembered it, I hated it but as I was trying it out in my beroom it was getting some awesome reverby sounds. It just needs a boost with it cause it has some volume drop. |

Does anybody know how the DMM compares to the Carbon Copy on bass? I'm thinking about picking a CC up.

| | | | Analog delay:
MXR Carbon Copy. Simple, very, very warm sounding, and reasonably priced. I like this because I don't need loops or really fancy stuff, just the basics. And MXR pedals are built like tanks.
Reverb:
EHX Holy Grail or Holy Grail +. The absolute best, IMHO. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
