Muff Derivative (Pedals with muff based design): Swollen Pickle, I guess the Pickle Pie B is probably the best I've tried. Not yet laid hands on a MKII yet. Supercollider is pretty good too.
Muff Clone (any generation): D*A*M Ram Head.
Current EHX Muff: Bass Big Muff |

I'm fairly sure he started with a Big Muff and changed the tonestack and added a mids switch/knob.
I did the same to my GGG-tuned Muff along with jumpering the first diode pair. That mellows out the pedal but the other changes give me boosted mids. I can still get that scooped tone by turning the mids knob down. Makes it a more versatile pedal. |

Actual EHX Muff: Bass Big Muff.
I really want to try out a GGG tuned muff. |

Towards the bottom his has a bunch of different tone stacks, including the Swollen Pickle. I used Duncan's TSC for a custom stack. |

I am all about the GGG-Tuned version w/ two germaniums in the first clipping section.
The Triangle clone has to be the fuzziest, DOOMIEST muff ever though. It blows the other versions away IMHO for playing heavy music. I threw a mids boost switch in there for some flavor, too!
Looking forward to building a Triangle to Swollen specs when I get some cashola. |

Many different resistor values.
A couple cap differences.
A Nightcrawler BAMF comes out of my speakers when I use the Triangle for sure.
Give the Germs a shot, my friend. Smooth and brutal all in one, still has a good amount of mids! Still high gain with the tone rolled up. I tend to keep mine around 11:00. Keeps the bass, stays smooth w/ a little grit. |

Really lookin forward to trying the triangle muff though (Ryan ) |

I love having different fuzz tones on my board. Plus I really tend to keep the mids cut on my Supercollider. |

I need to build up a Muff on my breadboard so I can try all those variations instead of changing parts out on my completed pedal.
Have you tried doing single diode clipping?
